Default Ameriton AL-811 Rear Panel tuned inputs

I need to adjust the tuned inputs on the rear of the Ameriton AL-811 and i am trying to figure out what tool to use.. My eyesite is not good enough to see inside the holes to see what is needed... It appears to be round or hex in shape... can someone describe in some detail of what the tool will look like.

    thanks

It is usually a plastic or some non metalic "Allen" type tool. An Allen wrench will work if you make an adjustment and remove the tool and test and then re-insert it to make other adjustments and take out when testing. The best way to do it is to adjust the swr for minimum while making the adjustment but not with a metal allen tool. Try Radio Shack for the tool, they might have it in a set of tools they used to sell for adjustiing old TV sets.

I wouldnt even attempt to use a steel Allen wrench but you can use one to determine the size needed. General Cement aka GC Electronics has them in their catalog.

The slug core tuning tool is a plastic 0.1 inch hex end and is availalbe from MFJ Part Number 965-6204 for $3.00. According to MFJ 2011 Ham Catalog on page 78 this tool fits all Ameritron tube amplifier input coils.
