My Gmail Account Has Apparently Been HACKED !!!
Seems as though SOMEONE has been hacking their way into Gmail accounts again as Gmail informed me that someone from Chile (Or an IP from there) had hacked their way into my account
Doesn't appear to have been any damage but that could be because Gmail deposited server-side backups of my email back into my inbox
Anyhow, I changed my password so the douche bag will have a much harder time of logging on next time *Devilish Grin*
In the meantime, if you use Gmail, you may wanna change your password ASAP !!

Had a hack attack last month, someone sent SPAM from my email account. I changed my password and that took care of it.

Hard to complain about a free service.
Edit: I have to sometimes sort through inquiries to our website, which gets about 50,000 hits a day or so. People leave questions.
The ones we either don't answer at all or have lowest priority to answer are those with free personal e-mail accounts, including gmail, yahoo mail, mac.com, aol.com, etc, etc. In our experience, those never lead anywhere so we pretty much ignore them.
IMO it pays to have a commercial service if you use it for anything important. For e-mail and such, it really doesn't matter.
Anyone can get a professional e-mail account for almost nothing, e.g., W1XYZ@imanimportantguy.com. Trust me, those are taken much more seriously if you ever have a technical inquiry to a company.

A lot of people use the free accounts not because they are free, but because in order to have internet access at an affordable rate, you have to switch between the local cable and DSL companies to stay on the promotional prices that are only given to new customers. If you have to tell everyone in your address book even one time to update your address, you know the reason why people choose to have an email account that isn't linked to their ISP account.

Had someone hack my email account and steal all the information I had in an email for a 27 million dollar bank transfer arrangement I was supposed to get from Nigeria.

Password and other hack issues
Windows XP has a nice program to auto generate passwords that dictionary cracking programs are unable to crack.
I will give a example (not mine) %4T!=<>897hy if anyone wants a secure password this is ideal and some sites I use if they require more than 6 characters I use additional process of something that will work.
I seen sites that do the same thing however I question its security.
I only posted my League Address here and I have my own, and I noticed some sites use SSL encryption if someone is very concerned, and several sites has SSL email as well you can encrypt your HDD, lots of sites I am considering Encrypted Email for Secured Email.
Are we having fun yet?

I would need to write that password down and tape it to my monitor.

I'm so sorry about that. Had I known it was you I would not have stepped in on this transaction.
We're expecting the $27 Million any day now and I'll have them send you some.
I'll have to give them your bank account number, routing number, and social security number though. Assume that's all ok.

Really? I can use my "business" e-mail address anywhere. My home SP is Road Runner via Time Warner Cable, because it's a good service, but I've never used the ".rr" e-mail, even once. Once you're on the net, you're on it.
I always use my business e-mail address for everything; for one, it's taken more seriously if I tender an inquiry. But also, this way I have multi level firewalls...my own, plus the one at my office where my e-mail server is, and that's a very high end hardware firewall (SonicWall) that successfully thwarts about every attempt to screw it up. I'd never use a ".rr" or "gmail" or whatever for any sort of work on the web.

And just to make sure I was changing my password from a LEGIT Gmail page instead one that was spoofed to make it look like it comes from Google when in fact it doesn't, I entered the answer to my security question to verify my identity. I did this because I figured a spoofed Google server network wouldn't have this information available to it (Unless Google ITSELF was hacked into that is )
