Nannyism vs Parenting
The Supremes knocked down the gaming law for minors under the Free Speech rule.
The very idea that parents have to guide their off springs and cause them to not be their kids best buddy. Having to not give the "Yutes" the money thus avoiding breaking the little heart is so old fashion. Out here in the sticks (Franklin County , MS) the young parents give their 7 yr old and up a vehicle that they can ride without any safety equipment, training, or supervision or face the pouty eyes and lips of the child.
And that good people is why we have to have laws to protect the kids, not from criminals, but from mothers and fathers that just can't spent the time to actually parent.

I'm glad the Supreme Court struck down the law. It's another example of big government determining what's good for our children instead of leaving parenting in the hands of the government.

Ummm.... nevermind. Seems to me that the overwhelming majority of people are doing a fine job of screwing up their kids without any help from the government at all.

Next thing you know, using their same logic, age limits will be eliminated for getting credit cards, investing, lotteries, etc..., you name it. All supposedly to protect their free speech. Never mind their indentured servitude to banks the rest of their lives.

I'm a bit confused. You say that some parents are buying motorised toys, using batteries, and allowing their kids to ride on them in public places and they have not been given any training, safety equipment or supervision,
and this is referred to as "nannying".
I imagine that even if you do live out in the boondocks that US law still applies ! These toys should only be used on private property and not in public places and if they are, eg. being used on roads and footpaths the police would visit the parents and tell them that they have permitted a minor to commit an offence. There is no law that insists a parent should provide their children with safety equipment. If such a law was passed 350 million people would complain that America had gone communist ! Or even worse, they were liberals !

I know I wasn't clear enough. I was not talking about electric toys. I was talking about ATV 4 wheels that the manufacture states only for 15yrs old and older. Sorry about that. These things will do more than 50 mph. There are laws saying they can't be ridden on public roads, but no laws about age. They are ridden on pubic roads anyway. I know most missed my tongue in cheek approach, but at least it was read.

Manufacturers put age advisements to help with lawsuit mitigation. I rode dirt bikes starting at 4 years old. I'm glad my parents were able to allow me to have fun, vs. big gov telling them what they, and I, can’t do.
