This is (I assume) a private enterprise and being here isn't vital to the health or welfare of any of us. We may enjoy it, but we don't need it. It works just fine as a free market enterprise.

Besides, would you really want to deal with more election crap? Aren't we spammed enough already by the politicians? 73
Again no one is talking about forcing QRZ to do anything. This thread is about integrity and honesty.

If QRZ was to willingly implement a system of its own free will where it's registered users were allowed to vote for moderators then that would be showing a great deal of integrity and something I could respect.

On the other hand shutting down a thread that's discussing this option would be an indicator that clearly proves a complete lack of character and integrity.

considering there are a huge number of members who was banned when the PJ forums were open just cause they didnt follow the PJ mods political leanings. if they could post im sure the approve/disapprove numbers would be very equal.

Apparently you do not like the "start your own site" option. Only thing left to do, is contact AA7BQ@qrz.com or Editor@qrz.com and complain. Complaining here is a lost cause. I would venture that 99.99 per cent of us have zero issues . You do .. thus contact those that run the site and get your complaints off the board.

What you are suggesting would in all fairness require all the users to share the expense of running The Zed.
How do you propose to do this?
    Pay per post?
    Pay per service?
Do those who pay more have more clout?

What would be Fred's motivation if he pays the bills and has no authority to control his staff or set policy?

These are all valid concerns I as a user of the services The Zed provides, have; how would you address them?

That wouldn't be because the most vocal were already banned, would it? There's at least one person I know who did the "well, make your own" advice; and was subsequently banned for it.

It seems to me that maybe we should consider adding a poitical forum Ease up on the rules for that forum only, no personal attacks though. Only allow registered users to view and post. Disallow spiders, bots, guests, and maybe members with less then xx posts. I am a member of several forums that do this, and it seems to keep the political talk out of the main content of the site, and those that post in the political forum are warned to have a thick skin. My reasoning is this. Politics come up in everyday talk, and eventhough two people may debate intensly over topics, they can still be friends, just keep it civil. Give them a sandbox to play in.

Of course, there are some who continually violate the "rules of the road", and get a pass. Without question. A quick examination of the signature lines here in this thread will show that.

N6YG the moderators here do a darn fine job of keeping these forums hate and chaos free. I've been on a number of forums, especially online game forums like Star Trek Online and World of Warcraft, where the moderators are much less forgiving and quicker with the delete button. Many of those forums have a zero tolerance policy and will ban you from them without notice for any violation of the posting rules; they also have the ability to ban your game account. I think the moderators here on QRZ are very fair and tolerant of what people post compared to other forums. I can't really complain about how they are doing their job moderating this place. To me personally they do their moderating here on QRZ very fair and consistent compared to other web forums.

Plus, this is their property. Just like if you went to Madison Square Gardens and started calling folks sitting around you profanities, you'd be kicked out and not allowed to come back. The same applies here on QRZ. We are allowed to use their resources, but we have to follow their rules. Free speech etc doesn't apply when you use someone's own property at no expense to you. Be happy we even have a forums here to use, they could have just made QRZ a call sign lookup site.

We go through this every four or five months and the usual suspects come out of the woodwork.

Actually the post you deleted was not political in anyway whatsoever. It did not take a political stand! and it did not make a political statement! The fact that you interpreted it in a political manner is what leads me to believe that you have preconceived political biases that interfere with your objectiveness.

An objective person would have realized that I was merely making the observation that we have a lot of wannabe broadcasters on the amateur radio bands who do not act in the spirit in which ham radio was founded on (You know something to do with fostering international good will) Instead they use the bands to berate and belittle anyone who doesn't agree with them and as I clearly stated they don't limit it strictly to politics.
