    Default Maybe I got lucky??????

Bought a new (used '09) truck a few months ago and promptly installed a bunch of radios. During my install, I noticed a coax run and the holes where a hood bracket was mounted. I installed my radios without incident and have thought nothing of it since.

Today, I was getting ready for a camping trip and doing some upgrades when I found the cut end of a 5 or 6 conductor wire. I traced it back and saw a Kenwood logo mounted DEEP in the truck's console. After 30 minutes of work, I pulled out a Kenwood TK-8150 UHF mobile radio.

    http://www.wholesaletwowayradios.com/kenwood-tk7150.htm

Info says it can do Fleetsync which I assume is some Kenwood proprietary digital trunking?

The radio itself looks great with all power connections in place. It has the remote mount faceplate in place and about 2 feet of the control cable. IT IS MISSING THE ACTUAL FACE DISPLAY!!!!

So the question I have, is it worth tracking down a display and using/selling it? Or just whipping it in the trash?

    Thanks,
    Brad

Probably best to put it on EBAY and see how much you can score from it. It is a commercial radio that will indeed tune the ham band, but you need a fancy programmer to program it. I like radios that you dial in the frequency. It is essentially equivalent to the garden variety 450 FM you can get at HRO for around $100 or so. If you've got to ferret a new head for it, that might be tough. best to let the BUYER of the rig figure it out, and put whatever you score from it towards a new radio already on the Ham bands. Nice to get things FREE though!

WOW!!! Mention that they go for $551 new in the Ebay ad!

LOL, I guess I could put it on Ebay. If I could get $100 I would pee my pants with giddiness.
