My hats off to you! Im trying to get through my extra now and having a heck of a time. I still cant believe guys and ladies can do this in one sitting. I can only imagine what it was like in the old days and then add CW on top of that!

I did elements 1 , 2 , and 3 in one sitting to get my General. But that was only 5 WPM ... easy .
Don't worry about the Extra . I think soon enough there will only be one class of Amateur .

I mean they made it so easy already .

I did all three in one sitting too, but I was NOT ready to take
the cw test at the time. Too bad, I could have gone from
NOTHING to EXTRA in one evening.
The written part was frankly, a proverbial piece of cake.
I finally passed my cw test 9 months later.

Do I agree with the possibility to go from NOTHING to EXTRA in one evening ???

    NO.

In a sense, the idea of holding a general for a year or two before
being permitted to take the Extra test makes a lot of sense to me.
During the 9 month wait between the written and cw test, I LISTENED a LOT
to HF, and learned a great deal.

I often wonder about the expression "taking off ones hat " It is customary for a man to remove his hat when a hearse containing a deceased passes by, and its also customary for a man to remove his hat when entering a holy place, while a woman does the opposite and covers her head as a sign of respect, but for what ?

"The best number is 73. Why? 73 is the 21st prime number. Its mirror (37) is the 12th and its mirror (21) is the product of multiplying, 7 and 3. ... In binary, 73 is a palindrome, 1001001 which backwards is 1001001."

In the days of way back when, titles of nobility mattered. you could wear your hat around a person who outranked you by a step or two, but you had to remove your hat as a show of respect to your alleged superiors. like saluting an officer - you must salute a superior officer, you can salute a fellow enlisted soldier.

Because "we" (men) came first.. Don't we have one less rib than woman ?? And we ask, "How can women be such a pain in the side??" (no we don't have ribs in our posterior) but same can be a pain there also!!... 73 Steve,... (Chauvinistic pig) (happy Easter) es Now back to our regularly scheduled "threading"...

I took all three tests in one sitting.
I have a straggly for preparing for and taking tests.
In preparation I skim the material, take a sample test and concentrate on learning what I don't know.
I don't memorize the answers but learn the theory behind problem that way I can work out the answer.

I do a review the night before and go in the next day and take the tests.
I eat light and go easy on the coffee.

I answer all I can easily first and then work on the harder questions.
And Yes I took all three tests in one session and passed them all.

    As for an experience requirement before attaining an Extra Class License;
I've always maintained that proof of some level of experience would make this valuable.
    Design / build something.
Write a paper on some related topic and have it reviewed by the VEC board or publish it in one of the magazines.
I believe the highest class of license should be earned with some form of technical competence.
But it's not and I'm okay with that.
I do feel a bit of emptiness because the Extra was so easy for me to earn, but that feeling is small compared to the fun I have on the radio.
