My mom spotted an interesting roof decoration the other day...
Namely this:
She said, "It looks like someone's trying to spell out a word with the antennas." It's definitely a ham shack, she spotted this on vacation in New Zealand. Most I can identify: wx station, discone, loop, unknown, loop, tree w/ yagis & vertical. But what is that little L-shaped thingy on the pole? It intrigues me, because I think it's a sideways sleeve dipole in that little L, at least that's my best guess.
Any takers? Does it look familiar to anyone?

I would guess the guy's only HF dipole with a leg broke off. A vertical mounted horizontal ( I've done it and the back ground noise is less then when it's vertical)..

Perhaps the OP is referring to this one;

It might be a "sense" antenna for the DF loop.

It is that tiny one you refer to. Some sort of feedback for the loop, now that's an interesting idea!
The one on the far right I guess I forgot to mention, sorry. My guess was as you said, the remaining half of a dipole, or maybe a 5/8ths vertical (matching network in that box?) that got knocked over.

Google "loop sense antenna" or similar terms for an explanation of the need for such an antenna.

I think it says "TAORO...E?"

The one on the left also looks like a Ramsey Signal Magnet antenna, a ferrite loop antenna kit encased in an L shaped PVC pipe.

Was he trying to copy this well-known bumper sticker?
