    Default Icom 720a help

    Hi I own a ic720a and now have a problem the surge supresor a dsa301L is broken any ideas wher i can get hold of one in th UK or if I could replace with similar component ?
    any help will be great.....

    would a mov rated at 500vac with selinium cell do the job?

    I don't have the IC-720A schematic handy but is this the device that's wired in across the antenna connection?

    yes its from coax to ground on chasis with a 33k resistor

    You don't even need it. The rig should work just fine with it removed.

    It's really a lightning transient suppressor. An MOV won't do this job, it has too much capacitance.

    If you have an external lightning arrestor that breaks down properly, this device is superfluous.
