Andrew Jackson was known for his misspellings in correspondence. When asked about it, he responded, "A fellow would have to be pretty dull if he couldn't figure out at least two ways to spell a word."
Exposing the uninformed and arrogant since 1956.

Why bother spelling at all ? Just grunt and scratch and sniff ... simple

Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference

Can;t stand it when people try to sound clever and use the word "myself" in place of "I"....... "Kev, Tracy and myself are going to the pub"......WTF. Why not "Kev, Tracy and I"??? And people who think the word "none" is a plural.....so they say "none of us are drunk".....when it should be "none of us IS drunk"....as "none" is just a shortened "not one". "Not one of us is drunk". Simples.

When you copy Morse and do it with your ears...you listen for the sounds of the dits and dahs. You don't care if THEY'RE are over THERE in some DX nation if the Ops are using THEIR bugs or THEIR computers to generate them. If the sound fits understand it. You might lose characters due to QSB and fill in the blanks with dits and dahs that are sounds to you... not Alsways perfect spelling. If I make a mistake and spell "dah dididitdit e didahdit e" instead of "dah didididit e didit didahdit.'...Who gives a dit? You have to get the information out of the message any way you can...even when it means accepting wrong spelling or incorrectly using words that sound the same. How do you expect to learn to receive and transmit foreign languages? And then we have the SETI nuts who want to receive alien messages...I don't suppose that such messages will sound out like ours or follow the same spelling oddities....even if they might exist when picked up by a deep space probing repeater....but not to be taken out at home by one hop from an exoplanet.
In the old days the term HAM was a very derrogatory term. Calling a radio operator a HAM was much worse than calling him a LID...or by any bad mouth common racial or ethnic term. In fact you could not speak the H.. word out loud on phone...on CW it was acceptable in one case because on CW there is only one case.
There are several explanations about why we are called hams and all of them may seem probable. I'll tell you about the results of my own research on that matter in one of my newsletters. If you are interested I'll tell you the date of the newsletter...but perhaps you're getting tired of my opinions here so let me not sound off so much and sign off instead. ENUF SED.

And then there are the kids who say that they will go over their friends house...and this without an airplane.
w2ilp (I Like Puns) I plane the plain pine that grows in the plaine and try to make a model plane with it.
The rain in Spain falls mainly in the plain....and sometimes on the plane as well ..water... I wine and dine and try to make a model...
By George.. She's got it! Wot?
