should posters on qrz have a callsign ?

I agree witk Ken, K9KJM, that people who post on QRZ should at least have a name, if not a valid callsign. If I wanted to read a bunch of junk from anonomous characters, I'de go to the BS boards on Google...

I'de like to ask Fred to consider setting a policy on that issue. Would you all please leave a brief post on this so that we can get a concensus on it ?

I think it's a fine idea myself, but what happens to the new folks that want to be hams and would like to participate here prior to testing, or have legitimate issuse or questions that they would like to discuss?

Good point, Tom. How about this: if you don't have a callsign, your post is held, pending screening by Fred ? Or perhaps you would have to register with Fred in order to post without a callsign ?

I guess I don't understand what difference it makes???.....You can usually tell in the first sentance or so if the poster has a clue, or is just seeking attention like QRM'ers. Some of the posters are ALWAYS against everything, and when I see their posts, I don't even bother to read them, as I'm sure most do also............

Well thats all fine and good BUT.
If they dont have a call sign they should use there real name after all you can see all of ours in the data base.
Then when they get their call they can change to the call sign.
Done and done.

Well, I have always proposed that if someone has a license that they be required to use that as their QRZ.com i.d. If they don't have a license, then they should use their real name. But, Fred Lloyd, the owner of QRZ.com lets pseudonyms be used. Since it is "his" site, he sets the rules.

I belong to many of the discussion forums on yahoo, and the better ones all require you to register and then get approved before you can post, or in some cases, even view the messages that appear there !

Sounds like "yet another filter" one that is not needed. The "staff" at QRZ.com do a good job at filtering and lets face it, you dont have to read them all, be your own filter.

I think some of these odd-ball posts are most interesting, regardless of the source, and applaud the editors for allowing them. As one said, be your own filter.
