    Default Hi Point firearms

Oh yes, I'll freely admit to owning one, a model C-9 to be precise.

Ugly, seemingly clunky, inexpensive and yet plenty accurate and comfortable to hold or even carry.

I really can't find anything wrong with it, except that it is ugly, not as "refined" as other handguns, and well... it's plastic LOL.

But really, a $150 9mm that will take +p ammo and has a proven record of reliability, is US made, and has a transferable lifetime warranty. What isn't there to love? I'm going to get one of their .45 carbines next.

I have never fired one, but they do look like they fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

That is perhaps the kindest description I've heard

If you can get your hands on one, they are quite fun. I've fired all their pistols (.380, 9mm, .40 and .45) and have to say really if you want something you can carry the 9mm is the way to go. The .380 is built on the 9mm frame, and the .40 and .45 get progressively heavier. BUT they too are accurate and easy to hold/control. Cheap garage/nightstand/whatever guns. This C9 of mine is serving as a beater/loaner/whatever piece, while my Ruger Security Six still is my main squeeze.

Thus was always my thought that's why my two carry guns are either an S&W or a Springfield depending on what I'm wearing. However the HiPoint .45 might be fun to plink with at the range.

While it is not what I carry I do have a couple of High Points. One my wife has as her CCW handgun (9mm) and I have a couple of 45's stashed in various spots for quick access if needed. My carry is a Kimber 45

I've fired quite a few rounds of all sorts in the High Points and never had a malfunction. At up to 10 yards (more than the likely gunfight distance) they are plenty accurate.

Normally I would agree, however given the reputation Hi Point has developed for quality, reliability and accuracy I will nod towards HP.

Friend of mine with a Glock will even begrudingly admit that they have the reliability of a Glock. I'm still pretty much a wheelgun guy, my only semis are a Kel Tec P32, the Cobray in my avatar, and the HP.

Zinc/aluminium alloy. And yeah, they have the heavy clunky .45 LOL.

But they don't make a 5.56 rifle. Are you perhaps thinking of the Kel Tec SU 16?
