Again, I repeat the invitation for public discussion of any prior art on fractal element antennas prior to 1988. I also strongly suggest that if one has convictions in this matter, that the effort be made to use the patent system, by requesting patent re-examination. This allows both the patent holder and the discloser an objective and experienced means to settle issues on prior art as it relates to issued patents.

There has been nothing on QRZ that in any way displays prior art to the fractal element antennas.

Default Fixing a broken patent system

    This is funny:

... an overworked Patent Office has issued plenty of patents that never should have been. How about Patent No. 5,443,036--a method of exercising a cat with a laser pointer? Or Patent No. 6,960,975--an antigravity perpetual-motion device that defies the laws of physics? These examples may be harmless (and amusing). Far less harmless are the sundry patents that are just as infirm but are directed straight at the heart of American industry. It costs millions of dollars in litigation fees to show that a patent should not have been granted, and most big corporations have learned that the hard way.

For example, within the antenna industry, there is a legal case involving many of the biggest telecom companies, by Fractus,S.A. Although Fractus has asserted that their US patents in this case are "not fractal", 24 requests for reexamination have been filed on 9 US patents, asserting prior art, including prior art on fractal element antennas. It is my understanding that three of those 9 patents have been rejected by the US Patent Office to date. I invite others to correct me if these are not factually correct statements.

In other words, the issue of fractal antenna prior art is a well studied and documented issue within the telecom and antenna industry--and the US patent office. Nothing on QRZ.com has contributed to that.

Chip is the only QRZ member with an interest in the subject of his patents, so what's the point?

There is no such thing as bad attention for Chip.

I would like to thank everyone for the comments received; they are proving very helpful in the writeup of a ham article.

I am sorry that I cannot have input on preventing the cyberbullying and harassment, but I appreciate that most have managed to filter that out.

    Best to all,
    and ... -.-

Pfffhhht. I'll believe the bit about the article when I see it. As for the rest of it, too bad your daddy didn't teach you to be a man and not a crybaby and a tattletale.

Thanks for hanging in there , it's a lot like alternative energy , change & new things can be difficult to get out there .

It also helps from those that have more knowledge than I [ that's easy ] on antennas the critical debate , for learning purposes .
    The QRM , that's another story .

    Your Welcome Chip .
I am just trying to suggest that life is too short to put any energy in negative , there are too many that are doing that , sometimes I make the mistake myself .
I would hope that we could just change the channel if we do not like something .
Now to going looking for more nuggets on the net / ZED .
