Why I HATE VERIZON Part 2
Last Thursday, I was with the guys in the Radio club at Subway for dinner when I got this Telemarketing call from Verizon. Normally I would tell them where to go, but I have been ready to upgrade my Phone to a new one for quite some time, so I bit.
For the next FORTY MINUTES, I was run through the ringer about this and that, and agreed to that and this and signed up for an upgrade on my junker Samsung to a new HTC Incredible. They promised it would be in my pocket by Tuesday.
Tuesday came and went, so I called them up and said "WHERE IS MY M-Fing PHONE???!!!!!"
Their answer: "WHAT PHONE??? We don't have any record of you ordering this.!"
Well, WHO did I talk to on the phone for 40 minutes then? It did seem legitimate, as they were able to call up my account data on their computer, not something a hacker or Scammer could do. It was MOST DEFINITELY someone from Verizon. They had info about me that only could come from Verizon. They read me the new contract and I fully agreed to it, and I was to expect the phone in the next FEDEX delivery.
Today, they transferred me around and around, and did see some notation that some activity had occured in my account on Thursday, but no order had been placed and nothing was changed. No phone ordered, NO NUTTIN!
SO WTF happened???
Incompetent RBs!!!!
I still have my original phone, and guess I will keep it longer. I just BETTER not see a bill for a phone I never got on my next bill!!!!

That's amazing!
I just go into the Verizon store for upgrades -- they're all over the place -- and walk out with one.
I don't order stuff over the phone, even if I trust everything is legit, because a Bird in the hand is worth six Calrads and Midlands in the bush.

You should call your credit card company ASAP (I assume they wanted you to pay for the upgrade right then). Someone has your CC info, and it's not Verizon.
-
The huge disadvantage in ordering a new phone on line or via telephone or any way other than in a store and walking out with it is if you need to confirm activation/deactivation or you want them to clone your new phone to your old phone (so you have the same directory, etc), they need both your phones to do that.
When I get an upgrade, I get all that done while I'm at the store (takes 5 mins), confirm the old phone is deactivated (except even deactivated, they can still call "911"), confirm the new one is activated, and confirm it's been cloned.
Price is the same either way, and might be lower in the store: I've "negotiated" on this with Verizon stores. "The better, upgraded phone is $49, Sir."
"But wait, I saw XYZ's ad that says if I sign up with them, this same phone is free."
"Um, let me talk to the manager." "It appears this phone upgrade is free here also, thanks for using Verizon."

I went over to the Verizon store, and told them the story.
They weren't particularly sympathetic
But they did give me abit of a "break" on the stuff,
I wound up passing on the HTC Incredible and scored the Motorola DroidX. It had a much larger screen, more bells and whistles, and is the newest thing out. The Incredible has been out awhile.
Being a SUCKER for fancy stuff, I bought not some but ALL the accessories you can get for it.
Screen Protector
Case protector,
Extended battery
Desk adapter, charger
Car Charger
Car holder to use for NAV (So I have a 2nd opinion to what the GARMIN says)
HDMI Adapter (someday I will get a HD TV!)
belt holder (which is useless. The phone fell off my belt after a few minutes)
and a 2nd house charger, so I can have one at home and one at work.
PHEW!!!!! Verizon was SURE HAPPY when I left the store.
And my VISA CARD was THOROUGHLY VIOLATED to the tune of over $400!!!!
But I am supposed to get a $100 rebate someday.....
Right now, the phone is working as a $400 DIGITAL CLOCK!
The ONLY thing I DIDN'T Get is a Bluetooth thingy. Maybe I will score one of those that mount on the car visor. I don't like the ones you carry around on your EAR!

"The best number is 73. Why? 73 is the 21st prime number. Its mirror (37) is the 12th and its mirror (21) is the product of multiplying, 7 and 3. ... In binary, 73 is a palindrome, 1001001 which backwards is 1001001."

"Just to invite your attention to "73" in Morse code--also a palindrome."

Well, we can surely see that you have your priorities. You are never again permitted to whine here on QRZ about the cost of a $5 part, how you can't afford anything to eat except ramen and queasydillas, and the fact that your AC does not work.
If I read here one day in the forums that your wife has stabbed you to death with a grounding rod, it will not come as a surprise...

Seriously! Accessories are EXTREMELY overpriced, and you can something similar (unbranded) on Fleabay for a fraction of the cost.
Let's see... For my iPhone 4 I purchased:
Screen Protectors x3: $0.97
Car & Wall Charger: $4.97
Hard Plastic Case: $3.99
Apple products (accessories) are probably the most overpriced of them all!
Pat:
You got a good deal on the phone itself, but Verizon scored big on the accessories! Enjoy it, though, the DroidX is an extremely nice device.
Trust, but verify.
