Hello fellow hams, a couple days ago I cam Across some
upsetting news. Through some uncomfired sources of mine ie.(my friends at Radio Shack). I learned that the Shack/tandy corperration is getting out of the small parts bizz. Apparently the company feels that they are lossing vaulable money, and will be moving more and more towards the consumer electronics industry.though
this news is disheartning it's not with out its upside.
THE BIG PARTS SALE, so say good by to all the heart felt
trips to the shack for thoughs needed and unneeded parts and pieces. so at least my wife will be happy she hates it when i drag her in to the Shack!

Maybe I'll finally be able to sell some of those small parts, I have been accumulating over the years, at the next hamfest! You had to know it was coming, based on the tool box parts bins in favor of more wall space and all of the RCA/Fuji/Motorola products replacing the Archer/RS brands.
Wonder if it's time to sell my stock!

There was a Radio Shack forum on QRZ awhile back that was pretty good. #One line from it that I thought was funny was "Radio Shack... You've got questions, we've got cell phones!" #Folks, I'm afraid that Radio Shack has gone the way of the neighborhood TV/radio repairman and the tube testing machine at the corner drugstore.
In Nashville it will be Randolph and Rice Electronics because I already have a cell phone.

I personally don't believe they have the right to the name "radio shack". Oh, I know, they have it legally, but it still isnt right. Radio Shack is nothing more than a junk yard for Chinese crap.

Yeah I found that out last week. At lunch time I ran out to the local radio shack for an audio transformer. I was told by the store manager that he wasn't stocking parts anymore. He went on to explain that only certian store will carry parts and that if I wanted my $2.99 part I'd have to drive to the store 10 miles up the road.
The only good thing is that the company I work for orders a lot of stuff from Digi-Key so if I need parts I can add my order to the company order and not have to pay $3.05 for shipping on a $1.95 part!

Well I wont miss them much ,since I have noticed that change coming right along.Nothing makes you boil when you get there and they no longer carry the part. But there are plenty of companies on the web.One I use is Mouser.com 73's Ted
