Default As heard on the repeater.....

Up to this moment, the repeater has been COMPLETELY SILENT for going on 2 hours!......

Suddenly, someone keys it up and plays 3 touch tones!

    "NO signal in San Diego!"

    "weak here in Inland Empire"

"I hear him good in Anaheim!"

    "Good in Long Beach"

    "STRONG in Carson"

"I heard him here in Hollywood"

    "No signal in Thousand Oaks"

"OK, that looks like he is somewhere in the Long Beach area, lets go get him!!"

"My car is all gassed up and the T-Hunt beam is all mounted!

"I have my TAIYO online and I saw him at a bearing of 270 degrees from Downtown LA!"

"OH, that means he must be up by the LAX"

"Joe, you go down the 10 and I will go up the 405. Maybe we can trap him."

"I am coming down the 101, ready to take a bearing"

    "no Signal here in Riverside"

"OK, we are all ready to DF the Jammer! Everyone stand by so we can take another bearing!!!!"

    Not Again.....
You would think the jammers would just let it be...
Maybe someone will end with more equipment to sell or give away.

The point of the post is to show how outrageous some folks get when they hear an unidentified signal. Rather than just ignoring it, they go CRAZY and start a FUROR over it. Notice the first line of the post. The repeater had been STONE DEAD for several hours before the transmission took place. Suddenly, everyone comes out of the woodwork rushing around, ready to drive all over the SoCal area just to find an unidentified signal. THAT is the Madness!

    Just let it go!

    Wink

Wouldn't surprise me to learn he's monitoring the repeater and either moving the jammer or when he hears them closing it, off it goes.

They need to rethink their comm plan. It's - uhm - suboptimal (which is PC for stupid ).

It is funny, seems to have blown over now.
    Talking about stereo gear now.

It has always seemed more effective to me to use a secret frequency to coordinate hunting efforts and NEVER say anything over the repeater.

Truer words were never spoke. Remember Jack Garritson? I listened to that clown shut down repeater after repeater by people that just couldn't resist pouring gasoline on that fire. No attention, no fun. Just silently go after him with completely opaque police work and zero fanfare.

Kinda like the way I feel about 911.

    I'm assuming you're talking about the 147.435 W6NUT repeater??

I've listened to it via Radio Reference online feed ..... man oh man ! .... A cross between the old 14.313 antics on a good day.....and the stupidity of 14.275 on a bad day!! and your FCC allows it to continue.... oh well.

That machine is a total attraction for jammers so let the chase begin ... and to the admistrator who holds the licence to that repeater.... maybe it's time to make a format change in programming....

Its quite possibly the most listened to repeater in the world. Why on earth would he want to change it?
