Computer Based Grid Finder???
Could anyone recommend a computer based program for converting lat/lon to grid squares? I found one called bd_2004, but it is incompatible with Windows 7. I want to be able to take my GPS out in the field, get my latitude and longitude from it, and then punch it into the program and get my grid square.
Thanks in advance!

There's a web-based Maidenhead Locator here on the Zed: http://www.qrz.com/gridfinder. You enter the values in degrees-decimal (not degrees/minutes/seconds).

What GPS is it? Some allow you to set the coordinate system to Maidenhead Grid so you can read the grid directly from the GPS.

It is a Garmin Venture HC.... I am pretty sure it does not have that function. That would be nice, but this works as well.

Did you scroll through all the Position Format Options? I downloaded the manual and it is on page 42. Garmin usually includes it on their GPS receivers intended for hiking--but not for many of their auto GPS devices.

According to the descriptions online it does have Maidenhead.
"Garmin eTrex Venture HC Hand Held Receiver w/ Built іח GPS Patch Antenna... ....Position formats include Lat/Lon, UTM, Loran TDs, Maidenhead, MGRS, user grid, аחԁ more..."
Look in the menu under Units Setup > Position Format or Map Datum.

Thank you both for the replies!
I got my mouth ahead of my thinking today..... After talking with a friend, he came to the same conclusion that you both did - the Venture HC does have that capability. For some reason I did not dig into the menu before posting the question.... Thank you for all the tips!
