    Default Post Count Suggestion.

While looking at items that have been for sale lately,I can't help but notice that many of the sellers have ten or fewer posts. Another firearms forum that I belong to doesn't allow selling without at least fifty posts. Has anything like that ever been tried on QRZ? It seems like this is a good way to discourage disreputable sellers. It also seems like a good way to encourage even more participation. However, conversely it could lead to posting just to bring up your post count.

Maybe I can answer this with a simple answer.
If the seller is a ham you can look him up; you know where he lives. Because I have a PO Box I established a reputation here before offering anything for sale. There is one ham who posts here regularly who knows where I live and can vouch for my map data being accurate on my lockup page.

As a seller here and elsewhere on the net in times past I always do my homework before committing to a deal.

If it wasn't for PayPal and Ebay's safeguards The Zed would be the safest place to buy and sell on the net if you do your homework.

I couldn't help but notice the post counts, and was thinking to myself is QRZ turning into QTH an online swapmeet. It was just something I noticed . I wondered if anyone else had thought on the subject?

There are a lot of members here who have zero postings.

Many like to read what others have posted but lack the desire to post stuff themselves.

Sometimes I don’t blame them much.

The problem I see with this is, if you don't allow people post until the have at least 50 posts. They will never be able to get 50 posts. I don't think the number of posts that one has, lends any creditability to ones honesty.

If you are not comfortable buying something from someone that has only a few post then the answer is simple. DON"T buy from them. I have never had a bad experience dealing with anyone here on the Zed. However some have be less fortunate then I. Amateur Radio is no different that any other social group. You do have those that are just out there to make a profit at the expense of others.

Before you buy an item in any venue including here on the Zed, read the description well. Ask the right questions about the item. Ask if anyone has ever dealt with this person before. Then make your decision to buy or not.

I have always asked the seller to call me if I am really interested in an item. If the seller refuses to talk to me on the phone I don't buy from them. It's my money and I like to know who I am dealing with before I sent it to someone. If they ask why the phone call I simply tell them that. Most understand and are willing to talk.

Why even have a post count? Many posters think their Post Count is a badge of honor and they start doing crap like this......

If this is a problem for you, don't sell or buy from anybody with less posts then you feel comfortable with.
