This seems to fit right in with the new Mercedes 6 cylinder Diesel sold in the USA. Since it's more efficient it produces to much nitrogen oxide during combustion, therefore they inject a stream of urea into the catalytic converter which reduces the nitrogen oxide by 70%.
This gives new meaning to the phrase, it smells like the car has a leak!
