Thumbs up Round Australia Motorcycle Charity Ride

I am in the preliminary stages of organising a Round Australia Motorcycle Ride (RAMR).
The event would see 10 American Ham Radio operators who are also keen motorcycle riders come to Australia to take part in what would be the event of a lifetime.
A support vehicle - fuel - food - camping equipment would all be supplied.
The event would also be for the raising of donations for research into childhood Leukemia - the riders would be expected to approach potential donors during the ride and the collected donations would be placed in a trust fund then at the end of the ride a cheque would be given to the research foundation.
Live amateur radio contact worldwide would be part of the event and a special event QSL card would be printed.
The event would also be promoted as much as possible in the media.
At this stage I am trying to organise the event to take place begin May 2012 - the duration would be approx. 60 days - planning would ensure time for photo shoots etc.
So at this stage I would ask any who are seriously interested to contact me by email (aeitower@spin.net.au) and I will compile a list - already 1 (one) spot has been filled so there are 9 (nine) more to fill. There will be a ballot for the spots with names drawn from a hat.
Costing for the individual has not been finalised yet - this will be worked out and all potential participants informed well in advance.
Applicants will need to be of a reasonable fitness level as this will be a fairly grueling event. Hopefully the bikes will be Yamaha 660 Tenere - but this has not been finalised yet. No special dietary considerations.
Tent camping and camp cooking apply - where possible overnighting will be in camping grounds with shower and toilet facilities. This may not always be the case - so be warned hi hi.

    Tnx de Kev.

    Default Addendum

I should have mentioned that I am in the process of organizing sponsors to supply the motor cycles and fuel as well as the camping equipment and video gear.

So all you will need to bring are some clothes and toilet items.

    Default G'Day Mate.

Well now Killick...fancy meeting you here. I recall you said something about this sort of event on the air, and recalled seeing this post, didn't make the connexion. Until I saw your call sign here.

Sounds like a great event....I reckon you will be flat out as a one-legged Bo's'uns Mate at an asskicking contest arranging this.

    Default One armed paper hanger

    G'day Sarge,

Thanks for the kind words mate.

Yep it's 2 years away and I am as busy as a one armed paper hanger at a Zsa Zsa Gabor house renovation

Been getting a bit of flak from some places about having only American riders - so I have made some changes. Let's see if the International Hams are as keen as the US guys (and some gals have sent emails saying they would like to do the ride).

One thing I know mate is I can always count on my American mates to be right at the front line when it comes to supporting a worthwhile cause.

    C U on 14.245 +/- QRM mate.
