    Default 6 Meters is Cooking!

Handful of Europeans on 6 right now. Worked E77DX and just now (actually between the words Europeans and on when he peaked up a bit!) worked 9A1CCY.
    Pretty amazing opening!
Only a 2 element quad and 100 watts here. So I can't hear all of it.
Is everyone else sleeping? Watching sports on the boob tube? At church?

    Ain't happening, here: http://www.vhfdx.net/spots/map.php?L...50&ML=M&Map=NA

I did work a few east coast stations last night on six, however. I think N3DB in FM18 was as far northeast as I worked.

It's very spotty and sometimes the band opens to a specific location, plus or minus very few miles. I'm happy when that happens to me, but not so happy when it happens to everybody else!

You did pretty well I'd say!!
I'd never heard anything across the Atlantic on 6 except C5AEH in The Gambia back in the early 80's and I only heard him. Couldn't work him with 10 watts.
There are a lot more people on 6 from a lot more countries these days but it is still the right place at the right time for a lot of it!

C5AEH was my only transatlantic contact in the 80's, running 50 watts PEP into a 5-element beam. Just wait until the sunspots come back, although this time there may not be enough to help 6-meters!

This is driving me crazy!!! I don't have a 6 meter rig!!! Uggghhhhhh! Me wanna talk! Me wanna talk! Me wanna talk!

Seriously, I can't stand it that I don't have a 6 meter rig. Ranger is producing one now and I think I am going to buy it. I have to wait at least another year before I can buy an HF+6 radio, and I don't think I can wait to get on 6 until then! Wish me luck, fellas. The wife has started getting this funny look in her eye every time I even mention radios!!

*sigh* My 6M beam (EF-706) is built, but leaning up against the house, too much World Cup and not enough time to get it put up in the air.

Been open on and off like gangbusters for the last week or so.

Like a few others, my horizontally polarized 6/2/432 antennas are out of commission at the moment. I think I'm going to put a couple of horizontal VHF loops up in the next month or two, as it'll be a while before my tower is "up and running".

I need to get a 6m antenna. Right now all I have is a G5RV Jr, I was hearing a few stations yesterday but was not getting any return to my calls. I am assuming I was not radaiting anything useful.
