    It could be the Columbia River. It does appear to have a current. Doesn't look like the head water of the Colo. Too wide, too many trees.

    The country looks pretty flat for it to be the Columbia. The Missouri, maybe?

    You are correct, it is the Columbia River, just outside of Portland Or. I was up there on a training trip and went out to a National Park that had a really high water fall, can't remember the name of it. The Columbia ran along the road I took out and back. Right behind me was the Columbia River Gorge. Very pretty place.

    You need give an important clue, being west of the Mississippi. Not much out there that is that big with landscape like that. Colo. is going to be muddy.

    Probably the falls you saw was Multnomah Falls, upriver from Portland. The Columbia Gorge is a National Scenic area.
