Kenwood TK-250G
Up for sale is a Kenwood TK-250(G) commercial HT. This is a 5 watt 32 or 160 channel HT (can do up to 160 channels by assigning two top keys to zone up/down), 4 character alpha top display, does CTCSS/DCS signaling, scan with priority and nuisance delete, selectable hi/low power and talkaround. Very rugged and reliable HT with loud audio. This is the "G" version which is capable of both narrow and wide band operation per channel. Uses the same 2-pin programming and audio accessories as most Kenwood ham HT's of the last 20 years.
Radio covers 144-174 bandsplit, and is type certified for commercial use, so unlike modified ham HT's, this one is LEGAL to use on part 90 including any DOT channels you or your business are properly licensed for.
Included with the radio is the OEM Kenwood antenna, belt clip, a decent used OEM KNB-12A Nicad battery that holds a decent charge for a full 12 hour shift, and an OEM Kenwood dual pocket rapid charger. This charger can trickle or rapid charge two batteries/radios at the touch of a button. Many other Kenwood HT's can fit this charger, they are hard to find. It is very clean, some minor wear on the metal belt clip but no cracks, no LCD "bleed" and of course it WORKS. Good loud RX audio, clear TX, on frequency. No audio problems or "bugs". These are bulletproof HT's built better IMO than some more expensive radios and aren't big and bulky either. The bottom mounted slide on batteries won't snap off thanks to a METAL battery rail and METAL latch. Frame within a sleeve design makes housing replacement a breeze and protects the radio circuitry. I was a bench tech for a Kenwood LMR dealer back in the mid to late 90's and these were a top seller. Very few of them failed and they take a tremendous amount of abuse.
I can program up to 32 channels for the buyer for free. I will include a copy of the software but you'll have to find your own SERIAL type programming cable, the software is DOS based so you need a REAL DOS computer (or boot to true DOS from a boot CD" and a REAL serial port. A USB based cable will NOT work and the software will not read/write the radio under any Windows shell. (But unlike Motorola RSS, the Kenwood software runs fine on modern PC's. I run it fine on my dual core 3400 Toshiba Tecra M5 laptop booted to DOS 6.22 from a CD)
Price is $75 FIRM and this INCLUDES Priority Mail shipping to the CONUS. I accept and prefer paypal, no surcharge. USPS money order okay IF I get it within 5 days...sorry not waiting forever and holding off and missing out a sale to a PAYING buyer.
Send email to erik dot bagby at gmail dot com I do NOT get notified of PM's here.
