Default How do I get a licence to work overseas

I am going to be living in the Azores an island off of the coast of Portugal. My question is what do I need to do so that I can operate while I am over there? I will be there for 2 yrs.

The is the best I could come up with: http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/reg...ip-info_a.html
Scroll down to the part about the Azores. It was written nearly 20 years ago so there is no way of knowing how current the information is. The guy who wrote it changed his US callsign to K3AIR. He is listed here on QRZ, but it does not list an email address.

Why do you have to 'put your two cents in'... but it's only a 'penny for your thoughts'?
Where's that extra penny going to?

I believe the Azores are administered by Portugal. Portugal is a CEPT country.
U.S. hams can operate from CEPT countries with no additional licensing requirements.

However, CEPT recently changed their classifications for U.S. hams. Previously, the General Class was given full CEPT privileges. Now, unfortunately, you will have only VHF/UHF privileges under CEPT.

If you have time, consider upgrading to Extra, so you can operate HF from the Azores. http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/reg...cept-info.html
