When did you realize you became your father!

Here I sit. 0540 local time. Friday, March 26th. My wife complained about it being cold and started to turn the thermostat up on the pellet stove.

I looked at the thermometer (which says it is 65.7 inside) and told her to get a blanket, pellets ain't free. I then did a double take as I had flashbacks to freezing and my father telling me the same thing (except it wasn't pellets, it was a wood stove).

Let it be known the date and time at which I have turned into my dad

But my wife (being my wife) just laughs at me and goes and turns it up anyway. I guess I'm not totally my father.

It should be noted, my wife and I just found out that we are expecting out first child around Nov. 1st, 2010. I guess that is what spurred my "thermostat implant" to life.

I remember them stoves first coming out

The pellets were as cheap as rabbit poo

My father said don't buy one
Once they get them on the market the pellets will triple in price

Just recently when my son starts showing immortal teen macho behavior, some of the strangest words came out of my mouth - same words my father said 30 years earlier. Now teaching him how to drive and trying to get his attention to treat the old clunker gently so it will get him where he is going for a while to come. Never thought this day would come but after it came and went it's not so bad.

She will get her revenge under the covers on a cold night, by placing her cold feet in appropriate areas. And yes they all do that. They are crazy about heat for some reason.

I remember a few years ago I was absorbed in some thought and looked at the mirror. I saw my Dad looking back. He died in 1983. (he was 54 the year I was born)

We are who we have been around the most. For me it's my grandmother on my mom's side. I came to terms with this decades ago, and every once and a while a situation arises where I am reminded of her influence on my life.
