Repair of ICOM 133 and 98 mics
All,
I have a rough photo essay on how to repair flakey operation on the ICOM 133 and 98 series microphones.
Give this link a look at.

So far I have done ten of these microphones and it seems to have solved the issues.
Be well all

Have you gotten any specific feedback from folks who have the fixes in the wild after using them for a while? *e* For that matter how long have the fixed units been back in service? Be nice to know how they're holding up over the long run.

your answer, such as it is...
Tom,
Some people have issues with the Flickr site, your system may or may not re produce the text that lives just under the photos.
Try using the 'slide bar' and looking under the photo to see if your getting the text I posted.
Hope all is well on your end.

IMT,
I did about ten units as IRAD (Internal R and D). So far so good. The electronics held up just fine. In one case the mechanical switch started to act up again. Another member of this forum had a good article on how to get that fixed.
Once the caps are replaced much of the 'flakey' operation went away.
Keep it safe

Not familiar with Flickr, but see a bunch of images, think I captured them. I don't need the info, but save it for others. Looks like lotta good stuff in there.

Tom,
They sure have.
In the article is a link to someone who did an extensive breakdown on the mics and the data handshake between them and the radio. Those guys did amazing work. All I did was fix the audio and RFI issues.
Be well there.
Mike
