    The way I see it an Elmer is like a Journeyman that helps and teaches the apprentice.

    ...first appeared in QST in a March 1971...
    Wow. Thay was right about the time I took my Novice test -- late March or early April of '71. I was being elmered by Bob Ackerman, my Physics teacher and Amateur Radio club sponsor. I received the license in late June, right after completing 11th grade.
