    "Lets do the Hokey Pokey"

    Song Lyrics & Words

You put your right foot in,
You put your right foot out,
You put your right foot in
And you shake it all about.
    You do the Hokey Pokey
    And you turn yourself around,
    That's what it's all about.

You put your left foot in,
You put your left foot out,
You put your left foot in,
And you shake it all about.
    You do the Hokey Pokey
    And you turn yourself around,
    That's what it's all about.

You put your right hand in,
You put your right hand out,
You put your right hand in
And you shake it all about.
    You do the Hokey Pokey
    And you turn yourself around,
    That's what it's all about.

You put your left hand in,
You put your left hand out,
You put your left hand in,
And you shake it all about.
    You do the Hokey Pokey
    And you turn yourself around,
    That's what it's all about.

You put your right shoulder in,
You put your right shoulder out,
You put your right shoulder in,
And you shake it all about.
    You do the Hokey Pokey
    And you turn yourself around,
    That's what it's all about.

You put your left shoulder in,
You put your left shoulder out,
You put your left shoulder in,
And you shake it all about.
    You do the Hokey Pokey
    And you turn yourself around,
    That's what it's all about.

You put your right hip in,
You put your right hip out,
You put your right hip in
And you shake it all about.
    You do the Hokey Pokey
    And you turn yourself around,
    That's what it's all about.

You put your left hip in,
You put your left hip out,
You put your left hip in,
And you shake it all about.
    You do the Hokey Pokey
    And you turn yourself around,
    That's what it's all about.

You put your whole self in,
You put your whole self out,
You put your whole self in
And you shake it all about.
    You do the Hokey Pokey
    And you turn yourself around,
    That's what it's all about.

Clearly, you're not from Pittsburgh (SW Pa area to be more general)

They play the Hokey Pokey (and the Chicken Dance, and the Electric Slide, and...) at every wedding reception. Every one. I think it's a law.

It's called the "Hokey Cokey" over here.

An absolute must at family parties in my childhood.

Used to enjoy seeing my female cousin 'shaking it all about'

YEN: Nice lyrics, but there must be something wrong with my sound card, I didn't hear you singing it. Can you sing in the key of MP3?

There is a dance that goes along with that song,Try doing that on
    roller skates some time,
I remember doing that when Iwas a boy about fifty-some years ago.

I'm sure your sound card is filtering it out for your protection. I think the only key I work in is called skeleton.

At King's Island, near Cincinnati, there's a building called the Festhaus. It's meant to look like a German Bierhaus. It contains a massive food court with long tables and benches to consume purchases.

But along its eastern face, in the gable, is a huge figurine clock. Every 15 minutes, a figure pops out of the 'cucckoo' door, blowing a bugle. Then it plays a full oompahpah version of the Chicken Dance.

You can count on one hand the number of people who don't stop to do a little flapping and twirling as the music plays. It's fun to watch.
