    Default HAM-FEAST 2010

It is almost 2010 and a new ham-fest season is about to start I think we need to have new rules for the 2010 season

    1. take a shower, before you go it only takes 15 mins and the water won't hurt you. how come people don't take shows before the ham-fest are they afraid the extra 15 mins that it takes they are going to miss out on a deal???
    2. if you smoke, clean your radios I well not buy any radio that looks like number 1 and smells like number 2. I don't care what the price is

3.price your gear to sell I well not buy a used radio when I can buy a new one for the same price..

    4. if you selling radio gear make sure it works if there is something wrong with it say so we well find out any way.

5 bring all of the asseseries (SP) like batteries, mikes and other stuff, I have been at a lot of ham feasts that people forget to bring the extras
6 charge batteries if selling a hand held I well not buy any radio that well not turn on!!
7 don't tell me you can get more for it on E-BAY if you can go for it you are at a ham-feast not E-BAY...

8 if you are over weight walk and don't ride the scooter

9 don't jam the isle ways like they do at Dayton

    any more??

Get a Hat to put your callsign on. That way, if someone worked you over the air, they can greet you.

Don't wear a Handy Talkie just because it looks cool. WHO are you going to talk to anyway? If you are in a group, then walk around together.

Don't LOWBALL the sellers. Ask him what he is asking for it, and then walk away if it is too pricey. Only after awhile maybe go back and offer him a lower sum. The best way to do that is to take the cash out of your wallet and wave it at him. The sight of the money changes a sellers's mind often.

Don't expect a seller to take a bank card or a check. Or Paypal. If you don't have the CASH, you can't buy it.

    +1 on the cash rule.

I walked into my first hamfest with $25.00 in my pocket. Between the cost of testing, admission and an overpriced coke, I was out of cash. Had plenty of money in the bank and had the checkbook and debit card with me, but not anybody to accept those "alternate" forms of payment.

Except for the big vendors, but they didn't have anything I wanted.

Next hamfest, I made sure to have cash in my pocket.
World War II began turning around when the Allies landed near Italy's toe and gradually advanced up her leg.

    Wink

Take a shower? Uhm . . . sure . . . I do that pretty much everyday, sometimes twice. I'll try and remember the deodorant next time. I'll even bring some of that stinky spray for the shoes if you think's it's necessary. My XYL hates my stinking feet!

Default Leave the backpack at home!

LEAVE THE DAMN BACKPACK AT HOME!

I can't think of the number of times I've been smacked with persons turning around wearing a full backpack. Person's who wear them take up twice the space of others and they just don't realize that until they've hit a few people as they mill about. Bring a cloth tot bag or even a fold-up hand truck to pack your goods around. My fold up hand truck is only deployed when I'm packing out a boat anchor to my vehicle. Sellers normally are more than happy to hold your purchased items until you are ready to begin moving the stuff out.
