N1MM and Vista
I installed N1MM on my Vista box and N1MM crashes every time I try to run it. Any thoughts?
We've been smeckledorfed!

Get a used Pentium with XP on it and dedicate it to N1MM...
I migrated from TRLOG when it became just too difficult to have DOS machines incompatible with my XP ones... Though I still like TRLOG the best...
To get N1MM to run on Vista will require someone who is fluent in Vista - which I am not - and I plan never to be...
Besides, Vista is obsolete, it is Windoze 7 now... why are you running an obsolete OS?
Go back to XP and smile...

When you installed it, did you right click the file and select "run as administrator"
Runs fine here on Vista.
Vista is not obsolete and won't be for a few years. Windows 7 has not been released yet. Windows XP is obsolete (no more updates or support from M$)

This is actually a good idea. I ran Vista for awhile on my regular machine, but far to many problems, thus I returned to XP. I also use an older Dell machine dedicated to Ham Radio for my logging, contesting, etc etc, running XP. I use N1MM for contesting running XP and it works fine. Never did try to run it under Vista as I use the older machine running XP for all radio related programs.
To each his own . . . .

One man's bug is another man's feature...
Since Billy boy is no longer messing with XP, it will remain stable permanently...
At this point in time I am not going to go to Vista... And I am not planning on going to Windoze 7... I will continue to run XP Pro as all the programs I know and love (except TRLOG) are supported on it... My Winkey USB keyers work... My LAN works... I have 5 computers running contest software and talking to each other... I can maintain the system as I understand XP and my Netgear router...
That is not to say that I cannot learn Vista, and then Windoze 7, and then 8, yadda, yadda, but I have lost the desire to keep rolling my system over and over... Until the day comes there is a killer ap that I just can't, absolutely cannot, live without that will not run on XP, I am staying put...
I have been sending money to Billy since DOS days (and then MS-DOS), and each version of Windoze, 2,3,4,5, then ME (nasty), and 95, and 98 (pretty good OS) and finally XP (and I probably missed one or two in that listing)... I tired... I'm done... I have an entire row of thick books on a shelf behind me, one for each version.. My concrete floor is beginning to sag under the load... Enough already! You would think he is the corner drug pusher for all the money I have sent him...

Windows 7 comes out on the 22nd.
It is advisable to upgrade from XP, as you only make yourself vulnerable to new exploits that come out every day by sticking with it.
No patches to make XP "unstable" means no patches to secure the latest security hole. A security hole like the one Conficker and its variants use to create a large bot net of spamming computers.
N1MM worked fine on Vista and now 7 for me. (I'm a launch party participant and already have a retail version of 7 professional up and running).
Oh and for the record, Bill Gates stepped down from the company a few years ago. Ballmer has been running things.

The guys who package the monthly MS security updates (that get pushed to 13,000+ computers) for XP will be glad to here this.
Whoops, just ran windows update on my XP box and dang, got an update.

N1MM and VISTA
Hello:
I know this is a little late, but there are instructions on how to set up N1MM for VISTA. As one of the others stated, you must make sure that you load it as the Administrator. I have used N1MM on a VISTA OS for over a year now with no real problem. The only issue I can think of at the moment is some of the Audio Features become Tricky to use, but I have a work around for that.
In the future, you may want to ask questions such as these on the N1MM reflector. There has not been a question that someone on the reflector cannot answer.

XP will have to die off sooner or later. Thankfully 7 is running pretty good.

I understand some people are having some issues getting UO to work on Windows Vista. This thread is here for us to all help one another out and get it working for everyone using Vista.Feel free to ask any questions. Explain EXACTLY what you HAVE done, and what your problem is. Im up first I installed, fully patched, put in the INX files, and am logging in through Razor. I even disabled my firewall because i had to do that on XP for UO to work.My UO crashes after i select the guy i want to log in with. Any suggestions?
