...Unfortunately the extra means very little in terms of achievement now days but the Feds made the rules so they apply. Flames are pointless since the system isn't going to go backwards. My only hope is that it doesn't get easier or it really will go down the drain.
You're correct. I also think that eventually when all of the remaining "Advanced" class licensees go "sk", the FCC will expand the General class to where the Advanced privledges are today.
Again, that's short changing and "dumbing down" the system I'm afraid.
....Ok, let the flames rage on.

True. I have no need for one. Would do me absolutely no good.
I said it would do you no good. I didnt say that yoou had no need for one. Yours appears to be so deeply embedded and your eyes tightly closed to avoid seeing truth that such an aid could not possibly help you.
I have not followed this troll, so I have not or will not take the time to read the over 500 posts.
My opinion is that it is an ego thing to have the Extra tag.
The Extra class license used to mean something. From what I have seen in the past few years, I will stay an Advanced.

Dude, get serious. For many, myself included, we just took the test so we wouldn't have to bother any more with tests. If you are holding on to less than full privileges just because you have a bee in your bonnet about what the new exam means then that is the VERY definition of an ego thing. Your ego won't let you accept that your license no longer would let you stand out as you perceive the advanced does.
I love that the FCC refused to upgrade you guys automatically. I thought that was just funny stuff.
