Default KENWOOD TS-50 JUST WHAT I WANTED...

Just picked up a used TS-50 HF XCVR.

Wanted something I could use low power CW on a portable antenna for camping.

I picked up one used from this sights swap meet. Trying the thing out in the shack on a WINDOM and a Butternut vertical I am impressed.

Although the rig does not have a pre-amp and nor speech processor it has impressed me so far. I especially like the switchable power as the 10 watt setting will be very usable on my battery setup from the RV and with the battery on the pickup.

Picked up an MFJ "apartment" antenna and am sure with the MFJ analyzer that I can get it set where it will work. Had a "CUB" years ago and the 2 watts worked fine so this should do the trick.

Will report further when the WX straightens up. As for now I LIKE THIS RADIO!
