Default Pennsylvania Bill to outlaw cell phone/texting etc while mobile

HB 538 is about to be voted on soon.
No specific provision to protect ham radio use.
Get to you state rep and senator and tell them you need the exemption, your fed lisc cannot be pre-empted by state law and the role amateur radio plays in public service.
It will be a hassle with law enforcement if some way is not put in the law to tell who is exempt and who is not.
You must carry your offical wallet card in any event to prove your position is legal. Tell them that!
    Do it now.!
We got it done on tower legeslation, lets do it again.

People should use hands free devices with or without a specific law. It's common sense. For the ladies it frees up your hand to put on your makeup and for the guys it gives you a place for your burger.

I thought this was all common sense to start with.

As for the laws. Good luck. Too many states are hopping on a speeding wagon and in a hurry to get to the bottom of the hill. Lawmakers are more worried about making it look like they are doing something than whether it is right or wrong. Welcome to the sweeping change.

They are looking at doing that here in Arkansas too. I guess most states are trying it. The law in Arkansas is named after a fellow who was killed by a texting driver, its called Paul's Law.

    Sure it's common sense.....

and at least once a day I find myself behind someone who is all over the road, or doing half the speed limit, or just cut me or someone else off, etc, etc, and sure enough, they're driving while holding a phone to their ear.

Just yesterday I was behind another vehicle on my way to the supermarket. He kept drifting half into the lane on the left, then back across our lane on to the shoulder...back and forth. I thought my God, he's drunk as a skunk, and started to call the police. Then he straightened out as he lifted his phone to his ear. The drifting was him dialing his phone!

Common sense? It's self-evident that there are many out there who don't have any, or at least they have less than they should for driving a vehicle.

Talking on the phone while driving is not a good idea but it is not as bas as texting, that is just plain dumb.

The problem isn't cell phone!!! It is issuing a license to a "brain dead - D/A" that doesn't deserve one on the first place!!! - Just take a good look & you will find that these very same people are doing a LOT of other stuff just as STUPID while they are SUPPOSED to be driving!!!

And the really sorry thing is, I've even seen the "so called law enforcement officers" doing some of this very same stupid stuff. & people wonder why there are so many accidents.
