Bishop Rock ,west of the Scilly Isles is a tiny granite " island " just large enough to accomodate a lighthouse . There is a helipad on top of the lighthouse and up to four visitors at a time can stay for a week at a time .
Some little time ago , we had Lighthouses On The Air and I would be surprised if Bishop Rock was not activated . There cannot be a more bleak and isolated spot . Lots of information on Google .
The waves get a bit big at the Bishop Rock lighthouse and it is bleak and lonely, but it can get a bit rough on Bardsey Island at the bottom of the Lleyn peninsular as well. People have been known to go on a boat trip to the island from Pwlhelli, and then spent eight days wishing they had gone to Harlech castle instead.! The weather can change very quickly as they found out !
