Bryan, how many times in your life have you been in that position. Have you ever seen someone in that position? Do you go about your daily routine with a gun in your hand for instant "protection"? I submit that if someone threatened you with a gun you would be injured enough before you got your weapon out, released the safety catch and aimed it that you would not take "someone with you" (except perhaps some innocent bystander).

I think it's true that "criminals mostly kill criminals". "Ordinary citizens" seem to kill ordinary citizens.

I ride a bicyle. I take great care on the road because I know that most people driving their tons of tin are pointing a deadly weapon at me. I don't want them to have a gun, too. I don't want one either. I take a realistic approach to risks. I haven't been brainwashed with the "Wild West" fantasy "history" of the US.

I suppose that the bat is an even bigger penis substitute than a pistol, but if you carry one in NZ to "defend" yourself, you will be arrested.

As far as being arrested for having a weapon to defend myself, Which would you rather do, defend yourself against an armed attacker and go to court alive or do nothing and be dead or seriously injured for life.?

If you had pulled a gun instead of a camera, the "criminal" would have shot you in self-defence.

But silly arguments seem to be the norm in this subject. How many of the upholders of the right to carry arms are enrolled as members of the "well regulated mititia" which is the "reason" for the right. Does any such "well regulated militia" exist? How many have undergone the training in self-control and respect for the law which members of a militia should have if they aren't to be a greater threat to the community than foreign invaders or any other real or imagined danger?

Those who have reached adulthood would be part of the militia in most states. As far as training goes...most gun owners are shooting way more often than the average policeman or soldier. Also, why dont you look up how often otherwise legal gun owners are involved in gun crimes. Im sure facts and real information won't get in the way of your silly arguments though.
