    Default New Technician and General

My son and I tested today and we both passed. I upgraded to General and he earned his Technician license. He is 10 years old, so he is really excited and anxiously waiting for his callsign.

Congrats to you both for passing. Not sure where your QTH is, but if you want to sked something on one of the general-approved HF frequencies, let me know.

Congrats to both of you! I remember the day I passed my test. It was the longest 4 days to get my callsign!

Did he study, or memorize? Just curious. The reason I ask, my 11 year old daughter is studying to be a Technician and is having some trouble grasping the concepts of said material, and I know from experience that General class is more difficult.

He studied for a couple of months and took a bunch of practice tests on hamtestonline.com. I had to help him memorize bands and also the equations for figuring out dipole lengths and figuring out what bands frequencies are on (freq/300).

Next step is to make sure he doesn't beat you to Extra.
