Older Radios VS computer Controlled Rigs.
Just voicing an opinion...
First of all I am a Computer Geek (an OLDER Computer geek mind you, remember the VIC 20?) and have some of the best computer equipment you can get (64 bit stuff mostly) and I can abuse MS Vista, but I have NO desire to own a new computer Controlled Rig.
I have seen and even touched the new and cool equipment, but something is lost in the essence of what I think Amateur radio is. I am not a OP of the 50;s 60;s or even the 70;s but got hooked with HAM radio in the NAVY running a ship MARS station.
I have 80s and older equipment, mainly Kenwood, and love every minute of running a muck on the bands. The reception is clear, the TX strong and the rigs, like me, are old and fun to use.
I am not a devoted Tube guy, but the hybrids are right up my alley.
Any thoughts?
The QSL card has a 1929 Ford Model A Sedan with a 302 Ford motor running on Ethanol !!
Just having fun building, fixing, tuning and chatting on HF....and trying not to be a Lid...
When I think of Hybrids, I think Radios!!! Member S.P.A.R.
