October Moto Ride Against Domestic Violence
According to national studies in the United States, 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence during her lifetime. Domestic violence is something that should not exist.
Avid motorcyclist and amateur radio operator, Ken Linder (KC7RAD) is doing something about it. He will be riding his Honda Rebel motorcycle from Las Vegas, Nevada to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina and back again to help raise awareness of this problem and raise funds for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
The timing of this ride is scheduled to coincide with the National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October. He will be leaving Las Vegas on September 26, 2008 and should return by October 19.
With the assistance of Keith Wucherer (N2OBS), his motorcycle will be equipped with an APRS system, and will operate as KC7RAD-1. Test trials of the APRS system are underway. Live APRS maps of Ken's current location are available on his website.
