Default These hams should be more active on HF.

Here is an interesting video showing several licensed amateur radio operators at their stations, but I rarely if ever hear any of them on the air. Maybe I just don't listen at the right time to the right frequency.

No, Virginia, not all hams are overweight elderly white men.

They get tired of the pileups. I dated a lady ham when we were both 18-20 and that's what she told me. Obviously the CW ops don't have it as bad, but once it hits the cluster that Karen, Lisa or Alyson is on, it's all over.

I used to hear my girl on the air and trust me, too many male hams are dogs; they are a true embarrassment not only to their gender but to the whole human race.

Remember that one YL came on hear asking about I think a PL-259 connector and it was a very simple question. Someone asked for pictures. She posted it then hundreds and hundreds of hams answered I know if I would have asked that I would have been killed from everybody.

It is very rare that I hear YL'S on the band.
Hamfests are the only places where I can go smelling like B.O. and wear my sweat pants.

I couldn't agree more and the instance with the girl and the PL-259 post is a perfect example.

My wife will get her tech soon for our RV travels in retirement.
But she has informed me that she has no interest in the female piles that happen when a woman is on the air.
The good news is that I will only require the 1 HF station.

    Sounds like "famous last words."

What happens if she wants to upgrade? People (including those of the female persuasion) DO have a tendancy to change their minds. I've known plenty of operators (male and female alike) that swore they were satisfied with a Tech license and just talking on repeaters that "got the bug" from just a little exposure to HF operations.

The hams Bert shows pictures of, are simply popular. They have well known callsigns, and so Bert "Google Imaged" them (the callsigns) and discovered pictures of the hams. He then included them in his video. He even had me in one of his videos. (I'm not saying I'm not active on HF or that I'm popular)

Next time I see her, I'll talk to the sweetie in my QRZ.com listing photo to see if he needs an Elmer.
