we're always reading about amateurs that are constantly getting a raw deal on equipment that is bought by others or just plain getting ripped off, well i've had my share of bum equipment recieved from others that had supposedly "worked". i know there are many of you that have seen my trade ad's out there and when i trade something off i'm straight up on what i'm giving you and would expect the same from the other party...nobody likes unfriendly surprises or the feeling they have been taken, what happened to the "TIGHT" fellowship that used to be among hams? at times i thought it went to hell but i WAS WRONG, I "know" there's a few good ones out there for sure now. Bill Collins K8NQC is one of them! A couple weeks back bill and i did some horsetrading and a piece of gear that i had gotten from him had gone sour on me (a tube had went bad) tubes do go bad no matter what and thats to be expected. I placed an ad in the wanted section of QRZ and i explained and gave a list of tubes that i was looking for...it was for a Swan 250 6m Rig, Bill saw the ad and knew it was the rig he'd sent me, I wasn't expecting this but he'd emailed me and told me that he would help me out and send me spares to get the rig back up and running....mind you, he did this on his own expense! I sure wish there were alot more "K8NQC's" out there!!!! Bill deserves on honorable mention for this and if you ever deal with him he is truly a "fellow" amateur, honest and willing to help others.
