Default Heathkit TC-3 Tube Checker - Tube Data

    Hey all!

I recently got a Heathkit TC-3 tube checker. The checker has a scrolling list of tubes and the settings. Unfortunately, this doesn't cover every tube. I have however found supplementary data sheets for the Heathkit TC-1, TC-2 and some other charts for other Heathkit radios. These have a much larger list of tubes and the settings.

My question is, are these settings the same on most testers? Can I use the same settings for my tester to test those tubes? Will the letter switches do the same for the TC-3 as the TC-1 and even IT-17, IT-21, and IT-3117?

Is there a difference between tube checkers and tube testers? If so what?

    Thanks in advance.

Contact the fellows at the Jacksonville Antique Radio Society ( J.A.R.S.) They have lots of different tube checkers, and can give you additional information on how to obtain charts, etc.

    Here is their link: http://www.jarsradioclub.com/

    good luck! 73, Jim

    Thanks for the info guys.

w9gb, thanks for the info. Thats all I'd been able to find. I was trying to find out if the supplementary charts for the other testers would work because I have found charts for them with a lot more tubes.

    Jim,
Thanks for the contact info. I'll try to get a hold of them and see what they can help me with.

All three testers, TC1, TC2, and TC3 are emission type testers. The schematics show major circuitry to be identical or fairly close. The TC3 has one or two additional sockets on it. The supplemental tube chart for the TC1/TC2/TC2P, dated 10/76, should add a lot more tubes that you can test.

    Pete,

Sounds great! Thats awesome to hear. I've found some very good supplementary tube charts for the other tube checkers.

Do you or anyone know if the charts for IT-17, IT-21, and IT-3117 would work? I've found 29 pages of tubes and the information needed to test for those.

EDIT: Now that I've printed out the lists for the TC-1, TC-2, and TC-2P, it looks like I shouldn't need the IT lists. I've got 12 pages of tubes so I think it should cover plenty. If I find a tube not on the list, then I'll do some more research.

    Thanks all for your help.

The supplemental tube chart manual for the TC1, TC2, TC2P, that I have listed on my web site is approx. 58 pages.

This Heathkit looks a lot like the tester I've got - made by Eico, they used a scrolling tube chart as well.See this page for details:
