Do You Attend Your Local Stinkfest?
I went to the Toledo area stinkfest in Maumee Oh sunday and it was not the greatest. I was surprised to see almost half the tables were empty and I was told that some of the normal dealers were missing. There wasnt all that much ham equipment for sale either. Of course, there were the usual piles of overpriced Drakes there. And the usual guys with the tables full of junk $200 CB radios that looked like someone beat them with a hammer and then ran them over. I did see quite a few VERY nice Halicrafters rigs though. A bit over priced, but nice. I love the people that think a stinkfest is a place for junk dealers to hawk stuff that has nothing to do with ham radio. One dealer there was selling tons of RACES and ARES wacker accessories. They even had really nice glow in the dark wacker safety vests! And to top off the day, I buy a supposedly brand new (most likely a returned radio that was refurbed or reboxed) Alinco dual bander handheld from R & L that would transmit on any frequency you set it too. I love buying new stuff that doesnt work right out of the box. I had to pay a commercial radio shop $25 to check this Alinco out to make sure I was right. Of course R & L wont pay for that. Talk about a wasted trip...

I just wonder why there is always so many of them for sale at these stinkfests. If they are so great, why are they always for sale? I did not see one Yaseu FT-101 for sale. I did see about four Icom 940's for sale. Must be some common problem with that model.

After battling it out on Ebay with the UltraRich for complete JUNK, Hamfests and Swapmeets are a wonderful breath of Fresh air!!! The Worst Hamfest is better than Ebay any day. Deals and more deals. Those "overpriced" Drakes would have gone for twice their sticker price on Ebay. All that worthless junk would be considered MUST HAVE treasure on Ebay. So, I just wish there were wonderful hamfests within a days drive from California. We have our usual swapmeets out here, but Hamfests are rarities indeed. The last 2 I attended were one in Yuma and the other in Santa Barbara. With Gas now past $3.65 a gallon, it would almost be cheaper to rent a LIMO to go to one. I wish I was in the Midwest, where every local community has a little Hamfest now and then, and then there is Dayton, the most fun you can have with your clothes ON! Well, enough dreaming, back to the harsh, head butting reality on the "bay". Some rat bastard outbid me again, lets see what it will cost me now!

I have yet to see you make one positive post! With all your whining and crying, one would wonder why you are in the hobby at all. You continually "troll" whatever subject you can conjure up. I certainly hope your life in general is not as dismal as your enjoyment of ham radio. I think the best thing is for you to just sell all your equipment and go hide in a cave somewhere.
