I smell a hijacking in progress. The two madera supporters just cant help them selfs. I foresee timeouts and thread killing for the new year.
Again this thread was for the purpose of expressing gratitude toward the QRZ staff and all of their hard work that makes this the most popular amateur radio web site in the world.
Thanks again to QRZ and Staff.
Tom

I said nothing about being banned.
A bit of historical perspective -
I've been around QRZ.com for a while, since 2001 I've been on the forums, in fact when it was still on slashcode.
One of the things frequently mentioned was "don't violate my right to free speech!!!!!" by some posters.
I remember Fred posting something to the effect of "don't complain about your right to free speech, because there is no free speech" or something to that effect.
Anyway, Rick likes to go in Rag Chew and sometimes attack a group of people he doesn't agree with.
While he may be protected by the constititution against Government action for saying that, he's not protected from anyone who has admin privilege here from censoring him. It's Fred's private property and he does as he sees fit.

That's been going on QRZ for years. Your point? Unfortunately, while yes QRZ provides a great service, it has allowed some types of behavior to go on here that promotes this kind of activity from posters.
It's kind of a "well if he can post this-and-that, well I can too" mentality. The subject actually came up in the mix-and-mingle part of our club meetings about two months ago.. that some people on here are just wayyy to quick to jump on people.
Ragchew is always going to be rough and tumble. Religion and politics are always gonna get people's panties in a bunch. But in the end, everybody's entitled to their opinion, no matter how controversial that may be.

Focaljet had the same mess in their offtopic section in 2006 as there is on QRZ today. They made a seperate section for news and politics and after they did it that forum was more civil. On hamisland has its Politcal section seperate and its civil there too believe it or not. That is my Christmas wish for 2007.

Here is proof that you just can't make some people happy by giving them what they ask for.
First ESD wants politics to have it's own section so he wouldn't have to deal with it. PJ was created.
Next ESD decides that having a separate forum for topics where he can't hold his own isn't enough. He begins the whine fest asking that that section be deleted.
I am fully aware that ESD was not solely responsible for the demise of PJ but let's face it, the whining was from him and others of similar mentality. His complaints about PJ should have never been given a single thought considering it was created, in part, by his request so he could enjoy Rag Chew without political posts yet he found it necessary to go into PJ.
This is like little Jimmy picking a fight with little Johnny and then crying to the teacher that Johnny is picking on him when he fights back.

Almost a year for this thread.
And might I add, thank you for adding to it helping to keep it at the top.
I have never dug up an old thread before and don't do so just for the sake of bumping a thread. On this subject it was necessary to go back prior to the creation of the PJ forum.
