Ok, the "topic description" was just eye-candy...

Doesn't anyone have opinions about something other than the same old same old?

What about the best old tube to cut the bottom off, and turn into a beer mug?

What about the fact that SSTV is effectively a multi-level, 1900 baud average mode (the center of the black and white levels is 1900 hz) .... I was playing around with SSTV on VHF FM the other day, and I can easily sent digital data, encoded as an image, at an effective rate of 1800 bits/sec using a two level encoding. If I went to a four level, I could get 1800 b/s with FEC. --- but the FCC regs only permit 300 baud digital (on HF), but that isn't digital, is it? It's an SSTV image (which is allowed on HF).

Is anyone playing with designing new modes? #I, a just a step above CB, no-code tech, am doing so.

We all know all about each others cats by now.... #what about your favorite beer recipe?

GYQ: you are on the cutting edge of experimentation, truly amateur radio at it's best. Stout beer is real beer. Lite-beer is for weenies. When I was stationed in germany, I was in beer heaven. When I came back to the states, I had a lay-over in bangor maine. Of course I went to the lounge to wait for my next flight. The world series was on T.V. so a cold beer was in order. My first american beer in a long time and it went down like water. tasted like water too. I sat there and drank half a case of beer and didn't get a "Buzz." Wish I could go back to germany when ever I wanted, Sample the women and sample the beer.

    For UX:

I have two real vices: Wild women and old radios. Unfortunately, my wife won't let me bring home any wild women. Thus, I have a fair number of "boat anchors" and a extensive antique/vintage radio collection!

Das Bier und Wurst, what a dual combination.
12%, 18% and the real expensive special bier: 30%
Who would care about anything else after 2 gud biers.

Being of Dutch persuasion, I am more biased towards the Dutch line of beers, but German beer is by no means bad either

Go for it! Brew your own beer. I tried that years
ago, And to my suprise, It really works! Hardest
part was cleaning (Getting the wife to clean/sterilize)
all those bottles. Great satisfaction in making your own.
Kind of like winding your own coils, Or building a
    electronic project from scratch.
But like building projects from scratch, brewing one's own
beer seems to becoming a lost art.

    Das Glenmeister sez:

Better that than old women and wild radios.

Agreed, German beer #1. When my friends order a famous lite beer, I ask them if they want some beer with their glass of water. But, I guess it's better then buying bigger belts every 2 months!
