    Question

I'm going to try and mount my tarheel 400 to my truck using a stake hole on the bed. I was wondering if anyone here has done this or has any ideas on how to do it. I'm afraid it may just be to much torque for the stake hole to handle.

    I found this page,

    http://www.w8ji.com/rf_noise_powerstroke_diesel.htm

I think I am going to copy his design however that antenna doesn't look like a 400.
Why is it in a hobby that is based around communication does everyone seem so anti-social?

Looks like a good job, including strapping the bed to the cab.

The only thing I wouldn't do he did, is having the antenna outrigged like that (outside of the bodyline).

Being a klutz I'd probably be running into it. And it would naturally "catch" things first.

I'm not sure why he has to change coils on a screwdriver, I mean I put a coil across mine to bring the impedance down on low bands, it's not the most optimal but did allow a low SWR by the autotuner. this was when it was in my car, have not put it in my truck yet.

I had a welding shop make my mount from a piece of 2" by ¼" aluminum angle and a 3" x 3" x ¼" aluminum plate. It fits the square back corner support of the truck's box. All the cable was installed behind the tail light assembly.
