CQ100

Has anyone played with CQ100 from qsonet.com ? i have been playing with it this week and it seems pretty cool for those times when you just cant get your signal through the air .

G'day.
I love CQ100; it's a very well constructed piece of software. I think it fits in well with my concept of being a ham as it is making use of the latest technology to communicate. And communication is what it is all about.

I used it for a couple of days a few months ago and then the novelty wore off. True, I had some nice conversations with it, but the same can be said of Skype or the phone. In the end, I thought "What's the point?"

I guess for some "communication is what it is all about" but for others it's about communicating without wires, via the unpredictable ionosphere, preferably using some equipment you have built yourself.

i use CQ 100 and i love it , i live in a apt complex and cant have outside antennnas , byusing this i can talk world wide i also talk on Echo link and eQSO , i think Doug did a great Job wwith this Program

Yep #I use it, and have made several contacts. #I use psk mostly. #Digipan is the program I use with CQ100. #Although
it's not real ham radio, it is fun to use. # No antenna's to fool with and no qrm etc. #
#It is a good program for newcomers to get used to operating with their new license, before actually going on the air, you can get the feel of having a qso with another ham.
#However, I would not reccommend staying with it forever.
#It is free for the first 90 days then you have to pay for continued use. #90 days should be enough time for anyone to decide if they want stay with it or not.
#I have also used voice, and CW on it, but prefer psk.
The big fault I have with it is this, there are not enough people on it. I sometimes send cq several times, with no answer.. I try several times, then just give up.

Bennie (ae4tr) I like CQ-100 too,because I live in an apartment high rise on the fourth floor of this building and no way I can install any kind of outside antenna,but I think I finally found a way if I can get it started. Ok, I noticed you say you get on psk,what do you have to do to use this on cq-100,what is required? I may just get interested and maybe I can find some time to use it. Of course sometimes is very hard to get on cq-100 due to my busy work schedule. I appreciate any help you can pass on to get on psk. 73's. Lloyd E.

I have used CO100 for more than four months by now with a lot of QSOs. I love it. For me it is a good simulator for RF transceiver since in my QTH it is not allowed for us to use real RF transmission because of security situation. AS long as " communication is what it is all about" CQ100 is a good alternative.

I tried CQ100 from qsonet.com & I really liked it. It reminds me of Echolink. Still nothing like good fashioned antenna to antenna(with all the qrm & qrn)radio contact stateside or dx

Heck, even if it cost $100 a year, I would still use it. Have made many friends on CQ100 and even visited one when traveling since he is bed ridden and uses a laptop as many hams do. There is morse code practice on CQ100 which sends each word 2 or three times at high speed and in a matter of one month, my speed was up to 40 WPM by being able to hear each word instead of each letter and now I can enjoy getting on the CW contests. You can hear me many days on 29.300 MHz where I patch CQ100'ers onto the HF or VHF bands using Ham Radio Deluxe and a Navigator interface.
