This is exactly what Ham Radio doesn't need, more DC to Daylight rigs with at best crappy performance, like the TS-2000. What happens when your DC to daylight rig quits working and it's the only rig you've got because it's "cool" to cover 160m-70cm in one box?

That's a funny thing, the Kenwood TS-480 and the TS-570 radios are all around that price range. I don't know about the TS-570's but the TS-480 is a really nice rig for the money, small but nice, and loaded with high end features.

So what's this Yeasu got? Guess we'll have to wait and see when the brochure comes out.
i'm sorry you don't have the experience or understanding to realize that others possess a skill set that you seem to dismiss as fantastical.

    Cool??

I have other rigs to use. #I have my FT-847 hooked to the PC for digital stuff. #Since I use digital on HF, 6m, 2m and 70cm it's "practical" to have one box for that.

    I'm with you.
Yaesu has nothing right now from the under achieving one box 897 to the FT2K. This rig may be a performer and I think it has the right amount of features and options for many hams.

May be ugly to some but ugly didn't stop kenwood ts2k buyers.

I'm pretty sure the pic that universal has of it is it.

I totally agree, I've never understood the obsession with DC to daylight radios or wanting a those ultra small HTs. I guess allot of people don’t realize what its costing them in terms of receiver quality or in the HTs case overall build quality.

DC to daylight is ok in the mobile but most people don’t realize they can come out cheaper if they just buy a HF rig and then a dual band mobile for a base setup and end up with 2 better quality radios.

FOG --- 9 folks out of 10 that even GET a " dc to daylight " receiver dont use it at its full potential and have no desire to...but when they try to sell it, they HAVE to mention that, like it will convince some fool to actually buy it...!!??

Me...I like my old Radio Shack 202 . If I want to hear something outside of the 2 meter amateur bands I just go to wal - mart and buy a programmable police scanner ( or go to a pawn shop or radio shack { another thread covers that } ).
    God loves you .

Be as nice as you can to others.

I type real slow for those of you who can not read fast.
