Good point. I wonder what they have in mind for this radio.
i'm sorry you don't have the experience or understanding to realize that others possess a skill set that you seem to dismiss as fantastical.

Kenwood is the only one making a do-it-all rig for the shack with the 2000. We need more options. You would think that with all the sales of the ts-2000, Yaesu and Icom would do something.

Not so sure I like it. Features seem nice, pretty much the same as the 857/97, just more on the panel instead of menu based, but, visually, looks like a GIANT step backward... jury's still out, though. Also, there's not a word of it mentioned on Yaesu's site....

Like the white lettering much better....!

Actually, if you read the specs, it offers quite a lot of stuff for the price. #Looked at several dealers web sites and the rig runs in the $1,000.00 price range, which puts it right where it should do fine. #IF DSP, not AF, for one thing. #No unnecessary frills like band scanning, and there are still a lot of us out there who don't need/want them.

Looks like a nice rig for a CW guy like ME.....hmmmm (hi).

I gotta look closer at this one when it hits the shelves.

Yes it does and in the same price range as Kenwood's TS-480 which looks like and is a good little radio. Too bad, I would love to have a reason to go back to Yaesu but they just aren't cooperating.
