... but a two point deduction for the dash in the middle of the callsign... #HAW!!!! #

Seriously, CB calls (e.g. KCG-2443) have dashes in the middle. Ham calls (e.g. KD7QIS) do not. For what it's worth....

    Chris, a few comments --

"First, I'm sure that at any given time, there is someone on the radio to answer questions."

Well, if you are lucky.... My point was, and still is, that Internet forums of this type are useful. They will NEVER replace on the air conversation, thank God, but they are useful. I don't have to be on the right frequency at the right time with the right propagation to hear your question, and likewise for you to hear my answer. Frankly, I've never heard the usefulness of Internet forums questioned before. But we all have our likes and dislikes, eh?

"Second, the title is (and I quote) 'QRZ Forum > Talk and Opinions', not 'TALK AND OPINIONS/RANTS & RAVES'"

Some people get passionate while they talk about their opinions. Nothing wrong with that as long as the personal abuse and foul language are kept to a bare minimum!

"Forth (sic), I got 2500 hits because I am very popular on the radio"

Howard Stern is very popular on the radio. Somebody's been doing SOMETHING with your QRZ.COM record. #Oh, whatEVERRRR...

    STEVE,

Well I'd say at one time I had you beat as far as QRZ Counter totals were concerned!!!

In fact, no doubt because of a few Rascally Weasels' manipulations my counter had more HITS than the "D68C" DX-Pedition had, somewhere around 12,000+!!!

So the WEB Boys gave up and turned off MY counter!!!

    W3SY...........

I pointed out the obvious to the lad concerning the dash in his call sign several months ago. Didn't do any good. But I do remember when I was his age and convinced I knew better than all those old farts with their worn out brains!

    kd7qis,

Eventhough I'm not a LAWYER, as lawyers do, we can and do have a RIGHT to interpret WORDS AS WELL as laws!!!

The only 2 things that are "ETCHED IN STONE" in life are eventual DEATH and TAXES, or did'nt you know that???

Sorry, everthing else is "FAIR GAME"!!! Maybe YOU'LL learn that, maybe you won't!!! Whatever!!!

Or better yet, you do your own thing and I'll do mine!!!

As long as everything is kept relatively CIVIL out here, YOU HAVE NO ROOM TO COMPLAIN!!!

    N7CPC de W3SY --

Well, you know how I am. I think CB stuff belongs on CB and should stay there. You KNOW I'm getting to be an Olde Pharte because I can remember when there were CB callsigns, and that they had the funky dash in the middle (e.g. KBW-2856). It's not a "big deal," per se, when someone sticks a dash in the middle of their ham call, but it shows a basic misunderstanding of what a ham call looks like. And it does make it look like a CB call, which gives me the WILLIES.

And me too -- I was quite the smart mouthed, snot nosed little know-it-all when I was a kid (not that such applies to anyone on this forum). I was a 13 year old Advanced Class puke and DEFINITELY thought I knew more than those senile 40 and 50 year old dustbags. Amazing how one's perspective changes after a few decades whiz by...

Now I'm (gasp) 45 and think I know it all! (ducking)

Age seems to cloud all in the end. #It is a good thing that I learned a lot in my life because god knows I have forgotten more things then a lot of young fellers know. #But when you forget your own name then you know (or others do) that it is time to hang up the headphones and let the younger generation take over. #

Even Bush the Elder gave up the reigns to Dubya. #I was just watching Sr. the other day on C-span give a speech at LBJ for commencement and thought to myself that he really can speak well. #Is that a skill learned though age or was Barbara just a clumsy wet-nurse? #Don't get me wrong, #I like Dubya a lot and would definitely not be a good public speaker myself but I don't aim to hold high office much less president. #I do support him 100% #He is doing a great job so far on most things I care about. # #I don't envy him his job at all though. #Perhaps in a couple years he will get better behind the microphone. #At least he is not bedding down with every female he smells around the oval office. #Thats a good thing and a positive trade-off from the last criminal administration.
