Yaesu released a firmware update for the Ft-991 in July, and the press release said that it allowed the radio to connect to wires x nodes "without any additional accessories." Does that mean it you can do wires x without the HRI-200 internet connection kit? (Of course you do need a PC). Anyone know?
Answered my own question - that firmware update is just so the ft-991 can access a wires-x node on the radio frequencies. You still need the HRI-200 kit to connect to the internet for the radio to be a wires-x node.
Do you have any advice on settings on the FT-991 menus or hints on hooking up the HRI-200? I understand the FT-991/HRI-200 combo is ONLY analog FM that C4FM doesn't work. I am so clueless as to how this all works, will be using a FT2D H/T as my prime radio. What about frequencies? Thanks to you (and others) W9WHF K9WHF@comcast.net
Hello All !! I have the same question. I updated my FT-991 to the latest firmware(s) My HRI-200 is connected If I use the program I can connect to an other node on the internet and I hear the QSO on the FT-991 but when I use my FT2D on the same freq as the FT-991 connected to the HRI i CAN NOT get connection with the X button to get a list of nodes etc etc
is the QSO in analog or digital? if its in analog i believe you have to use DTMF to connect to a node.
