What I want to know is why Ham manufactures have to endure these tests, yet radios Like Bow-Fangs get sold with no care into the USA...

Then go to FCC Part 2 and read:
    Subpart I—MARKETING OF RADIO-FREQUENCY DEVICES
    Subpart J—EQUIPMENT AUTHORIZATION PROCEDURES
Subpart K—IMPORTATION OF DEVICES CAPABLE OF CAUSING HARMFUL INTERFERENCE
    https://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?&mc=true&tpl=/ecfrbrowse/Title47/47cfr2_main_02.tpl

Some Baofeng models and other CCRs have FCC equipment authorizations and some don't.
Some have equipment authorizations that were obtained by providing false information.
The FCC and Customs are often incompetent or don't care what comes into the country.

^ Yes I know that, but its good that others understand it ... Follow the Money Trail .. Why would Anytone be taken over the coals on a Radio that does GMRS and HAM be removed from the market by the FCC but all the Bow-Fangs do anything and come preset to cause interference to Public safety frequencies ?

    Cheers,

What counts as interesting news for some doesn't for others I guess...

Tried to have a bit of fun with it but what can I say... tough crowd

My personal prediction is as follows:
    • Lithium Polymer Battery
    • System Fusion & Wires-X Capability
    • IF DSP
I agree with other's analysis that the FT-818 is likely just a minor 'spec bump' due to part obsolescence issues with the FT-817.

And.... it looks like it's basically an 817nd with a better battery and a TCXO...

So the big improvement is.. 1w on each mode, plus UK bands?

I dearly wished to see an antenna tuner on the list. Oh, or a solar charge controller, so long as I'm daydreaming. I mean, the all-in-one box must have a different meaning to different folks.

If you have an 817 (I do not) then this is a waste of money. They should have increased screen size and added a LiFe battery.
